HCP BUNDLE: BLS (HCP), Oxygen Therapy & Airway Management

Designed to build participant confidence in performing advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills and provide the important steps to perform a rapid assessment, provide Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, and perform rapid defibrillation. Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy add advanced additional certifications to this course. Please see the individual course pages for information on each certification, or see below.

AUDIENCE: In-facility and health care providers (nursing, care aides, dental industry, medical offices, etc.), pre-hospital care groups (fire department, rescue teams, sports therapists, lifeguards, SCUBA divers, ski patrol, first responders, search and rescue, etc.).


COURSE CONTENT:

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - Content includes legal issues including consent, advanced directives, and abandonment; Assisted ventilation using a variety of resuscitation masks and BVM's (Bag Valve Masks); High-performance CPR with AEDs including 2-person and team CPR, brachial pulse checks, responder fatigue, and blood loss concerns; Choking and airway obstructions, Trauma response; Opioid overdose response including naloxone care; Six rights of medication; Post-cardiac arrest care in return of spontaneous circulation patients, including providing manual suction and knowing when supplemental oxygen is needed; High performance team communication including closed-loop communication, respect, and designated roles; and post-event debriefing. OXYGEN THERAPY - Content includes pulse oximetry ranges, values and treatments; Administering supplemental oxygen from cylinders with the use of oxygen regulators; Duration of flow calculations; Oxygen delivery devices including nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, resuscitation masks, Bag Valve Masks (BVM's) with oxygen reservoir, and standard oxygen masks. Practical hands on training using full oxygen D and E cylinders, and brand-new industry-best training equipment.

AIRWAY MANAGEMENT - Content includes techniques for opening the mouth; the various airway adjuncts including OPA's (oropharyngeal airways) and NPA's (Nasopharyngeal airways) as well as SPA's (Suppraglottic airways) for both adults and children of all sizes. This includes practical skills training on measuring and inserting airway adjuncts into the most current, realistic airway training manikins. The use of manual and automatic suctioning devices is also covered.


BUNDLE DAY CERTIFICATIONS:

1. BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (HCP) CPR/AED Certification is valid for 1 year. Recertifications may be completed every consecutive year so long as training remains within the expiry date.

2. OXYGEN THERAPY Certification is valid for 3 years from date of issue.

3. AIRWAY ADMINISTRATION Certification is valid for 3 years from date of issue.


COMPLETION:

  • Successfully demonstrate all skill competencies
  • Min. 75% mark for all three written knowledge evaluations
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the courses

Comprehensive Guide to First Aid & CPR (eBook), Certificates in Basic Life Support, Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management (wall, wallet with free option to laminated copy), Classroom copy of the Basic Life Support Field Manual to borrow during course, and Record of Training for Employers (available upon request).

9 am to 1:00 pm Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR/AED Certification
1:00 pm to 1:30 pm
Lunch Break
1:15 pm to 2:30 pm Airway Management (AM) Certification
2:15 pm to 5:00 pm Oxygen Therapy (OT) Certification

Registrations can be made online by choosing one of the following course dates below and reserving a spot. You'll be required to pay to confirm your registration, or have an invoice prepared if you are attending on behalf of a company.
