WORKING AT HEIGHTS REFRESHER TRAINING

First For Safety offers the IHSA's (Infrastructure Health and Safety Association) Refresher Training in the Working At Heights: Fundamentals of Fall Protection Certification program. As of April 1, 2015, workers who use any of the following methods of fall protection will need to complete and maintain their qualifications in a working at heights training program that has been approved by Ontario's Chief Prevention Officer and that meets Training Program Standards, such as that by the IHSA:

  1. Travel restraint system
  2. Fall restricting system
  3. Fall arrest system
  4. Safety net
  5. Work belt
  6. Safety belt

REFRESHER TRAINING:

Please note that you must be certified in a CPO-Approved Working At Heights course in order to qualify to take the refresher training. Proof of certification is required unless you've taken your training with First For Safety, in which case we have record of your training already.

REFRESHER COURSE CONTENT: Content includes a review of all the original course content, as well as any changes that have occurred in regulations or best practices over the three year period since your last certification. Content includes: Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) "Green Book" Regulations pertaining to Construction Sites and Projects in Ontario Workplaces, Rights and Responsibilities, Working At Heights Responsibilities, Recognizing Fall Hazards, Eliminating Fall Hazards, Fall Protection System Components, Inspecting Fall Protection Equipment, Anchors and Lifelines, Ladder Safety and other Access Structures, Guarding, Emergency Rescue and Suspension Trauma, Calculating Total Fall Distances, Fall Arrest Planning, and more.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates are required to bring the following PPE to the course: CSA-Approved footwear, a hard hat, and safety glasses
  • Successfully completion of practical and written examinations required
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

COURSE TIMES:

Three (3) hours including a short break.

CERTIFICATES:

Temporary certificates are issued upon successful completion of the course, ensuring successful participants can leave the course with proof of certification. Proof of Refresher Training card will then be mailed to each successful participant directly from the Ministry of Labour after the course.

Need a certificate re-print? Fill out this Training Certificate Replacement Form on the IHSA's website to request a replacement. Please expect a three week wait for it to arrive in the mail.

PRICING:

$120 +HST per participant; Please inquire about group rates starting with 4 participants.
