Oxygen Therapy

Designed to provide participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to correctly identify when it is necessary to administer supplemental oxygen, and how to safely do so. Participants will learn how to properly and safely handle and assemble oxygen therapy equipment including canisters and regulators, how to assemble the equipment, and how to directly deliver supplemental oxygen through the appropriate delivery device, monitoring of oxygen levels in the patient. Oxygen Therapy is often taken by those needing Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Airway Management can also be added as additional certification to this course.


AUDIENCE: In-facility and health care providers (nursing, care aides, dental industry, medical offices, etc.), pre-hospital care groups (fire department, rescue teams, sports therapists, lifeguards, SCUBA divers, ski patrol, first responders, search and rescue, etc.).


COURSE CONTENT: Content includes pulse oximetry ranges, values and treatments; Administering supplemental oxygen from cylinders with the use of oxygen regulators; Duration of flow calculations; Oxygen delivery devices including nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, resuscitation masks, Bag Valve Masks (BVM's) with oxygen reservoir, and standard oxygen masks. Practical hands on training using full oxygen D and E cylinders, and brand-new industry-best training equipment.


CERTIFICATION: Certification is valid for 3 years. There are no recertifications for this course, though it may be repeated as needed.


COMPLETION:

  • Successfully demonstrate all skill competencies
  • Min. 75% mark for written knowledge evaluation
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

Comprehensive Guide to First Aid & CPR (eBook), BLS Certificates (wall, wallet with free option to laminated copy), Classroom copy of the Basic Life Support Field Manual to borrow during course, Record of Training for Employers (available upon request).

  • $80 + HST stand-alone
  • $60 + HST per participant add-on to BLS
  • $190 +HST per participant for 3 certification bundle: BLS, Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management (BLS +OT +AM)
  • $170 +HST Student Pricing +HST per participant for 3 certification bundle: BLS, Oxygen Therapy and Airway Management (BLS +OT +AM)
  • Group rates available for minimum of 6 participants; Student discounts offered during promotional periods (reading weeks, etc).


SCHEDULE: 2:15 pm to 5:00 pm
